Hallo Ryan, ich bin sehr stark E39 Liebe wie können Sie beenden
30.06.2024👍🏻
Hey, could you update the link (it’s not working ) for the prism to go on the windshield ?
The vendor removed the product from the website, but does still have some left in stock. You can call them and he'll sell you one.
Yeah, I had a feeling that happened. Who is the company and what’s the part number?
@@jpzzze Please refer to this writeup: www.e39source.com/blog/automatic-headlight-retrofit/
Great video.. Does the touring have the same sunroof casette?
Yes I believe it does.
Hello there. Can you tell me if i can exchange the e39 m5 gearbox for another gearbox but an Auto. Maybe the e39 540 will fit . Would be nice to have the [addle shift later on also if this fits . Thank you. ( this is also for my body as i am an Amputee with no left leg).!
The 540i's automatic transmission would bolt up the S62, but I don't think it would handle the additional power and torque reliably. Additionally, the M5 was never offered with any automatic gearboxes, so the coding/programming would require a lot of custom software which may not be feasible. The E39 540i M-Tech (2003 only) may be a better option for you, as those are readily available with the automatic.
Really great video Ryan! Especially the lighting made it very easy to follow. Quick question: How can I check if i need to do the right side of the diagram as well? I dont have a rear powered sunshade but i do have front and back pdc on my 2002 E39 525iA. Can I skip it if fuse 32 and fuse 45 are in?
Thanks! I think if you've got those fuses in your glovebox fuse panel, you're probably covered for the right side of the diagram. If you do the left side and the seats don't work, you may want to go through the right side of the diagram to see whats missing.
i can connect the tail lights without connecting the lcm unit. Because I connected it with adapters I got from the internet and it gives me an error Indicator, rear left, failure! Rear light , right, failure! Turn indicator, rear right, failure! Rear light left, failure!
great video..
My passenger side door lock just died. This will be helpful. Off topic but my GPS and cigarette lighter died. I did not know they were connected until I replaced the fuse (52) in the trunk, its a euro spec car. Now the GPS and lighter work great. The car also seems to run a little better. Anyone here know the fuses on these car?
FYI: If you are installing a new actuator on the driver's side, you must plug in the window switch otherwise the actuator will not work.
This is a good point. Window switch must be plugged in to test the actuator (and door shut). For the passenger's door, you need the black module with three connectors plugged in (and door shut).
What is the exact brand name or model number of the LED because when I click on the link it says ERROR?
These are unbranded and there are no part numbers either. I just search Ebay for "E39 LED halo 6,000k 10w" and buy some that are already in the US.
Has anyone found out the part numbers of the screws and acceptors for the diffuser ? Help is much appreciated. I can’t find them nowhere
You can use 51118174185 where the diffuser meets the bumper at the bottom. For the sides, you'll need small self-tapping screws. The factory ones were a 7mm head. BMW never published the part numbers for this hardware, so I usually go through my spare fasteners until I find parts that fit if the original ones were missing.
nope, it did not work on my 528i '98
Seems like the main retrofit harness is NLA (61120027006) - anywhere I can source them? Or alternative vehicles to pull a harness from?
I have recently heard this, definitely a bummer. I plan to reproduce this harness, but our shop is absolutely slammed with work right now and this is a lower priority. On E39s that came with PDC from factory, these wires are built into the primary vehicle harness, so extracting them would be quite time consuming- but possible. Keep an eye on E39Source's online store for when I make the reproduction available.
Just not working doing this, and I'm a pretty good DIYer. For $160, I can send it out to have it down precessionally.
Looking to get a 540i manual for drifting. Can’t wait 🙂
I've tried updating the software on my e39 530d '02, but it's not going in to update mode, i've done everything as guided. Can it be something with region where my car is from? (it was made for Italian market). I currently have 4-1/12 version on MKIV nav system..
I'd sooner suspect your disk reader in the computer. Does it read the map disks okay?
@@E39Source Yes, without any issue, as soon as I put in the maps CD it's opening them
@@E39Source Could it be because I've used DVD-RW disk instead of CD? Minimal writing speed was x6...
@@aleksaignjatovic5811 Probably, I think the update disks have to be CDs at 1x.
@@E39Source Okay, ill try again with CD, hopefully it’s gonna work 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
All is perfect but the passenger compartment because it doesn't match with the Le Mans blue. Andrew should add the real angel eyes
Yeah. Looking for these subs. Can’t find them.
The 5 series e39 really is the most beautiful, timeless design, perfect balance between vintage and modernity. Older cars look too out of date, modern cars are ugly.
Lucky you Not a single one big fail
It looks good!! Would had preferred to see HOW everything was taken off !!
Hi, what oil do you use after changing the thermostat for the 90 Celsius version? If you used e.g. 5w50, you switched to 5w40 then?
I run Castrol 5w30 in M62s regardless of which thermostat is installed.
@E39Source don't you think 5w30 is a bit too weak for v8 that additionally likes to run in approx 110 celsius conditions?
@@szymonukasiewicz29 The owners manual states that both 5w30 and 5w40 are acceptable oils for the M62. A thinner oil does a better job with lubrication anyhow.
I took my BMW 330 CI 2003 model in to BMW for the drivers airbag recall in the centre of the steering wheel, when I went to pick my car up nothing was mentioned to me about the odometer display showing PPPPP rev counter needle going all the way around to maximum and staying there the temp gauge not working, I only noticed on the drive away from BMW, all working before when I dropped the car off, On ringing them they said it should clear itself as the battery has been disconnected but nothing changed so now BMW are charging me to investigate the fault saying it's a coincidence.
It is possible that it is unrelated. I would try a battery reset first. Unplug the negative cable from the vehicle's battery overnight. Then plug it in the next morning, and see if that changes things.
I didn't disconnect the battery while doing the replacement. Everything went fine, until I started to screw back the t30 bolts (the one above the latch) . While tightening there were few seconds of sparks and fuse number 6 blow up... Replaced but it instantly blow up again. Could this be fault of actuator, or reason of not disconnecting the battery, or maybe I should check something else?
I've replaced a lot of these without disconnecting the battery and have never experienced issues. Obviously something has shorted out on your car, you'll need to inspect the wiring in this area thoroughly to see what got pinched/damaged and repair it. If there is no visible wiring damage, you might try disconnecting the new actuator to see if the fuse still pops.
@@E39Source Thank you for the tip. I found the problem. I've pinched some cables with the side (hidden) T30. Now it's fixed with isolation tape and everything works great. Your video was very helpful, best I've found on youtube. Very detailed, with lots of important information. My new E39 is slowly coming back to its former glory :D. Paid around $1500 for it last month. A lot of things tbd, but what a great car. I also have E36, and had E38 so I have some comparison :). E39 is the best.
@@ledmyszkow2291 That'll do it! Glad you got it sorted. Good luck with the restoration, and thanks for your support!
Will this schedule fit H7 LCI lamps?
Is there a specific reason the E92 Clutch & Flywheel won't work? I am hearing they will work, but no specifics and the m5 flywheel is extortionate at this point.
The E9X M3 clutch and flywheel work just fine, and we've been using them for years since this conversion.
Thank you for this video, it helped in an unexpected way. Took my 540 in for safety inspection and they failed it due to part of the brake lights not working. Come to find out it was just a rear fog light that US cars didn’t come with and problem solved
Hey Ryan. The power harness (61120027006) seems to not be available anymore. What solution do you know of if you can't get your hands on one?
I've recently heard this, quite the bummer. I actually have one more in stock here at the shop that I'll use a model to re-create more... but sourcing all of these connectors will not be easy. Email me at ryan@e39source.com if you'd like to buy one. Unfortunately, it may be a while before time allows me to re-create this.
Sorry to bother, my 98 e39s left turn signal will not turn off all the car is running when it’s off everything is off. Would you happen to know the fix for that? And thank you for all of your videos!
I would try a battery reset first. Unplug the negative cable from the vehicle's battery overnight. Then plug it in the next morning, and see if that changes things. If not, you may need a new signal stalk or LCM.
@@E39Source thank you so much as soon as I get out of work I’m on it!
Any difference between pl/prefl models in this installation?
2001+ E39s received front and rear PDC while 2000 and earlier models just got rear sensors. That would be the biggest difference; but as you can see you can easily retrofit the front sensors as well as the rears. There shouldn't be any other major differences between pre/post facelift.
Hello. Why is always working?? Draining the battery
It runs until the vehicle enters sleep mode, which is ~20 minutes of no activity.
@@E39Source But there the battery suffers a lot every day an hour an hour and a half. Start and stop several times a day
@@y8rd This is how the vehicle designed, and I've never heard of it causing a battery discharge issue.
Absolutely gorgeous. Wonderful work. I’m in L.A. and thinking of purchasing a high mileage e39 M5 that would need some work. Will certainly keep you in mind if it comes to that. Thanks.
Thank you so much! I'd be happy to help you through some service/restoration work if you do pickup an M5. Feel free to reach out anytime: support@e39source.com
@@E39Source Thanks very much. I will!
No wonder the crank was fooked. Soon as you hear that noise you stop reving it and switch it off. That made me cringe
What's with the ticking at around 3 min mark?
Seems to be something in the cabin, unrelated to the exhaust/engine.
Mercy mercy me! The perfect specimen if i say so!
Hi. I’m interested in doing this retrofit. So the only things needed are the module with the buttons and the wiring. Doesn’t it need pads in the seats? I’m new to these kind of things. Thanks in advance for your reply
Please review the video in greater detail, I did discuss that you need either new (heated) donor seats or to install the heating elements under the leather.
@@E39SourceMy bad thanks🙏🏻
Got the fsu loose but it’s impossible to come out. It’s a whole black tube preventing it from even coming out. I don’t c any other videos where this is an issue and I haven’t read it any forums
Thank you for the video. Do you think the original alternator need to be replaced even when it works fine at the moment? I have a 2006 BMW M5 V10- third gear engine malfunction and I think it might be the alternator that is part of this problem. Thank you. ISTA has a code 002788 and code 0027D0 DME: Fuel pressure, setpoint/actual-valve comparison at maximum pressure DME: Fuel-pressure control adaptation
If the charging system is functioning properly, I wouldn't replace the alternator. Your codes indicate a fuel related issue.
Awesome, thanks for the video.

good video
So I love the E39 M5. Any experience or familiarity with the E39 platform and LS engines swaps? Equal amount of money after all said and done as an M5 or a complete money pit of an idea to try.
It's been done before, but it's never something I would ever attempt or recommend. Sure the LS is cheap and powerful, but that's not what the E39 M5 is about. I think the S62 makes the M5 an M5.
What should I expect to pay for the glass guy to replace this seal?
Somewhere around $200 per side.
Damn. This color combo reminds me so much of this STI I was going to buy. Wife shut that shit down 😤 Your E39 m5 is a beaut! I'm into these now
Ah ! Thank you ! I came here to understand the route of the Earth lead.
Boy, if only BMW would differentiate between the third light and the L/R units! Thanks for this video I determined my center light was the culprit. Completely melted, original 25-year-old part manufactured in February 1998. “Driving” me nuts for months. Thanks a ton for this!
I replaced the first half of the cable, but now wont my hood close
First half as in starting from the handle? This would not affect the hood's ability to latch shut.
years late, great vid ! About to do my endlinks. How the hell does a shop and BMW dealership both not notice that missing bolt. Ridiculous
